ABSTRACT

Explanation: The Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT) statement, most recently updated in March 2010, is an evidence-based minimum set of recommendations, including a checklist and flow diagram for reporting randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and is intended to facilitate the complete and transparent reporting of trials and aid their critical appraisal and interpretation. In CONSORT guidelines, there is intention-to-treat analysis instead of per-protocol analysis. Another feature is that all patients assessed for the trial are accounted for, and the report is accompanied by a diagram that summarizes the outcomes of all patients involved in the trial.
