ABSTRACT

Note that draw-steam anneal is actually two process steps, two separate physical transformations performed in sequence. However, because there is continuous flow from Draw to Anneal, and parameters like yield are only known for the combined steps, we show them as one step. Similarly, draw-hot roll anneal is actually two sequential processes shown as one. If a material leaving draw-anneal doesn’t have the specified properties, it is not always clear whether it is because of improper drawing conditions or incomplete heat setting. Thus, from a flow viewpoint, there is no benefit in differentiating them. For the purposes of understanding waste and its causes, there may be. However, we can explore that with a more detailed process map of those specific steps.
