ABSTRACT
Determining the best and ideal projections is the most impor t an t independent
problem i n the theory and practice of creating and approx imat ing map projections,
as i t is concerned not only w i t h the direct improvement of the mathematical basis o f
maps, but also w i t h f inding the l imits of possible improvement i n the properties o f
map projections.
