ABSTRACT

The Information Workmanship Standard (IWS) is defined as “the minimum acceptable quality level for transactions, job functions, work processes and ultimately the resulting information.” Without a standard there is confusion regarding work expectations. The IWS, such as financial, quality, and a variety of other standards, clearly defines the expectations associated with information. In addition, it fully develops the nested internal customer and supplier of a service framework to define process-based performance metrics that reflect in the trenches end-to-end business process activities. Engineering “process-based” metrics allows players from the entire organization to understand their specific contribution to profitability, which is lacking in traditional hierarchical metrics. The IWS may be deemed the “Pinnacle in productivity optimization.”
