ABSTRACT

A A 35-year-old man presents with episodic severe upper abdominal pain radiating to back for 5 months. He has increased thirst with polyuria and passage of bulky pale stools. He consumes tapioca as a staple diet. On examination, there is no abnormality. His fasting blood sugar level is 18 mmol/L; plain abdominal x-ray shows linear calcification in the upper abdomen across the spine.
