ABSTRACT
A A 19-year-old man presents with a swollen and painful right knee. On examination he is pyrexial, and the knee has a large effusion and is red and hot to touch. The knee is held in the ’position of comfort’ and is very painful to move. He also complains of pain on passing urine.
