ABSTRACT
The main idea behind this chapter is to provide a comprehensive picture of the locked-in or residual stresses that exist in the hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating, and then how they can influence the properties of the coating in general, and mechanical properties in particular. Now the first question that we need to ask ourselves is: What is meant by the term residual stress?
