ABSTRACT

Project portfolio governance involves the processes used to identify, select, prioritize and monitor projects within a company or line of business. e foundation of these processes should be the strategy and guiding principles of the company. With a rm foundation, ongoing governance and oversight are able to proceed down the path to arrive at the strategic destination. Project portfolio governance is a critical capability in the best of times. Project portfolio managers must navigate their projects toward achieving the “. . . overarching strategic objectives” (James & Ryan, p. 4).
