The monitoring of the number of mitochondria, the organelle responsible for energy generation in cells, is obvious important, as it reects essential cellular functions of target cells under investigation. However, it is a difcult analytical task to determine mitochrondrial number of target cells without the interference from other organelles and cellular debris.
