ABSTRACT

In the research area of new promising materials in tribology, the nanoparticles as friction modier additives in base oil or in solid media have been studied extensively in the last years. It has been found that nanoparticle inclusion in base oil enhances the extreme-pressure property and load-carrying capacity of the thin lm in between the sliding surfaces with reduction in the friction coecient. New liquid lubricants incorporating nanomaterials are expected to signicantly contribute in the frictional processes of modern microscale devices as well as machines and industrial plants with considerable economical and environmental advantages.
