ABSTRACT

If you think it’s expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur.

In many organizations, the project manager plays little role in procurement. Procurement management is run by the contracts or procurement department. Project managers submit requests and procurement fulfills them. However, this is not a best industry practice. The project manager will have to live with the results of any procurement; therefore, he or she should be a contributing, leading participant and part of the acquisition and approval process.
