ABSTRACT

Combustion is one of the oldest and widely used processes in the world. This process carries out the complete burning of solid, liquid, or gaseous fuels in the presence of excess oxygen. The products of the process are inert gases such as air (or oxygen), water, and carbon dioxide along with any impurities produced from elements present in the fuels. The process generates a large amount of heat that can be used to drive turbine (by steam) and generate electricity. All of the fuel feedstock such as coal, oil, gas, biomass, and waste are used to generate electricity by this process. Most processes, however, use a single feedstock at a given time.
