ABSTRACT

Composting is the natural end of the life cycle for organic materials, and can be a good way to dispose of biodegradable waste, usually food waste or plant matter. The only distinction between recycling and composting is that composting uses biological processes instead of mechanical ones, and produces an end product that may be most suited to biological uses. It follows that some kinds of organic waste can be either composted or recycled, depending on which approach produces the most useful output material with customer demand.
