Taiichi Ohno, the father of the Toyota Production System, once said, and I am paraphrasing here, “If you cannot even implement and sustain 5S in your factory, how do you expect to be successful at any other Lean discipline?” Based on the source, I would say that 5S (Visual Management) is very important! Why else do you think that almost every House of Lean or Lean Pyramid you have ever seen has 5S/ Visual Management as the foundation?
