ABSTRACT

The detrimental effect of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) within the IVF laboratory has been extensively reviewed.1-7 In The United Kingdom, the Human Fertilization and Embryology Authority (HFEA)8 stipulates that the quality of the air within the laboratory should be of “grade C” (see Chapter 18). Centers will be required to have documented procedures for achieving the air quality requirements and monitoring compliance. Equally important is the purity of medical grade gases within the enclosed chambers of an incubator.
