Leptophyes punctatissima (Bosc) (1-3) Speckled bush cricket A minor pest of fruit trees, usually in large gardens and weedy, unsprayed orchards. Widely distributed in Europe.

DESCRIPTION Adult: up to 18 mm long; body mainly green, finely speckled with dark purple; head and prothorax marked with a white dorsal line and a broader (sometimes yellowish) stripe that extends backwards from above each compound eye; abdomen with a pale purplishtinged dorsal line; wings vestigial in both sexes; female with a robust ovipositor protruding backwards from the tip of the abdomen. Nymph: similar to adult, but smaller.
