ABSTRACT

GPSS/H has the ability to make statistical tables of any standard numerical attribute (SNA). These tables are in the form of histograms and might be the length of a queue, the value of a parameter, the per cent of time a machine is working, the number of shopping carts in use at a grocery store, and so on. Often the time a transaction has been in the system is tabulated (how long it took the transaction to go from one point in the program to another point). For example, in most mining operations, the time for trucks to cycle from the shovels and return is of interest. In studying people entering a grocery store and using the shopping carts, the simulation might give a maximum number of carts in use as 14. The mean number of carts in use at any time might be 4.5. It would be instructive to see how often 14 carts were in use as well as the distribution of the usage of the carts during the simulation. This can be done easily in GPSS/H.
