ABSTRACT
While marketing a design, the designer is frequently asked a question by the client: ‘Is this a proven design?’ Also very often the tender document for a ship has a clause asking if the designer has designed similar vessels earlier. If the designer fulfils this condition along with other conditions of the tender, the design is selected for conversion into a product. Then the design can be termed as a successful design.
