Response equipment must be properly maintained and secured. A department or designated personnel can perform this function. In cases where response equipment must be shared, a checkout system should be used. Under no circumstances should response capabilities be jeopardized because of the need to share equipment. Adequate equipment and materials, in good working condition, should always be held in reserve for a response.
