ABSTRACT
Let’s cut to the chase. For the limited approach that most companies have attempted to become Lean, the results are questionable. While Lean proponents tout the benefits and many companies claim they are doing Lean, for most the impact is inconsequential. We all know that we have to be fast, we have to be agile. So, are Lean methodologies ineffective? Quite the contrary, they are profoundly impactful. The barrier is our traditional organizational management systems prevent Lean from being adopted correctly and broadly enough in a business to have an effect. Consequently most companies have not shown significant impact on their business models, financials, or management systems.
