ABSTRACT

Gravitational physics and optomechanics have had a long association through the development of laser interferometric gravitational observatories. In fact, these experiments are one of the historical drivers of the field of quantum optomechanics. The observation and routine study of gravitational radiation would initiate a revolution in our understanding of classical general relativity and cosmology. However, optomechanics has the potential to provide an even more profound impact on gravitational physics.
