ABSTRACT
Here we consider a time span of about three months. The assumption is that most materials can be acquired within 3 months. The planning period certainly needs to be long enough to encompass the total time required to produce the item with the longest lead time from ordering the material to completing the product. Our objective is to produce a sufficiently detailed plan that will provide the necessary materials and resources to deliver specific products for which customers have asked, or to produce the specific products on which we have decided based on our forecast (The subject of forecasting is beyond the scope of this text-many good texts are available).
