ABSTRACT
To interact with natural phenomenon, embedded devices use different sensors/trans-
ducers and actuators. Many of these sensors and actuators use analog interface to
connect to an embedded system. For proper interfacing between these sensors/actu-
ators and an embedded system it is required to convert analog signals to digital and
vice versa. This chapter describes the theory related to analog-to-digital conversion.
Different methods employed for this conversion are introduced briefly. We then look
at how Cortex-M performs analog to digital conversion by discussing its configuration
details.
