ABSTRACT

Culture can influence the behavior of members within an organization and affects many aspects of organizational life, such as the distribution of rewards, promotion, and how people are treated. For example, if workers observe through actions of management that production is valued higher than safety, they will begin to shift the values that were originally instilled and adopt the new values being demonstrated by management. Substantial influence can be placed on an organization by its culture because the shared values and beliefs that are present within a culture represent important variables that guide behaviors (Alston, 2013).
