ABSTRACT

Up to this point, you have read a lot about Goodyear’s journey with lean and how we improved our product development processes. But only occasionally did the topic of innovation come up-I have focused on how we develop better value for the customer and profitable value streams for the products we develop. Innovation is a lot about what to create and develop. Many R&D professionals and scholars-maybe you-do not think that lean can coexist with innovation and creativity, let alone synergize and flourish. In this chapter, I hope to put that misperception to rest as I show how we used lean thinking and principles to overcome these challenges at Goodyear.
