Family law and criminal law overlap when crimes are committed between relatives, or sometimes, crimes influence family relationships. Inside a home, children or intimate partners may discover child pornography, obscenity, or erotica. Discovery could provoke confrontation or instigate governmental intervention. Viewing pornography or convictions for pornography offenses could reflect poorly on personal character and parenting abilities.
