ABSTRACT

This chapter presents important best practices developed for large engineering programs and adapted for banking work. From 2006 through 2009, one of the authors (Oppenheim) co-led a large project tasked with developing best practices based on Lean Thinking for complex engineering programs conducted under the auspices of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE). The project involved 14 experts and 150 practitioners from academia, large engineering (typically defense) companies, and US, UK, and Israeli governments. The intent was to create Lean-inspired best practices (Lean Enablers) that would guide program managers and their teams.
