ABSTRACT
Soon after the end of World War II, Taiichi Ohno, vice president for technical operations at Toyota traveled to the United States to study how automobiles were built there. Americans were said to “leave their mothers’ womb behind the wheel,” and regarded as authorities on automobiles in those days since they had no competition after the devastation of the war.
