ABSTRACT

This chapter provides information for using intracranial pressure monitor. It begins with a case scenario of a an 18-year-old man who is presented with a moderate head injury and requires emergent open tibial fracture washout. The chapter then includes details on indications, contraindications, and information about supplies, positioning and technique. Pearls and pitfalls are also incorporated, providing additional insights and practical advice not always available in other textbooks or articles. Camino monitor is placed on the side of maximum injury which provides the most accurate intracranial pressure measurements and it is helpful to mark Kocher’s point with a measuring tape.
