ABSTRACT
Correctional environments are signicantly dierent than hospital and community treatment settings. is chapter provides a denition of “corrections,” highlights purposes of punishment, describes types of correctional settings, reviews stages of the criminal justice system, explains inmate classication schemes, and outlines the process governing the return of inmates to society.
