CH A P T E R 8 Wave Propagation in Laminated Composites

In the previous two chapters, we studied wave propagation in one-and twodimensional isotropic waveguides such as rods, beams, membranes, and plates. We saw the use of spectral analysis in understanding many features of wave propagation in these waveguides, such as their nature (dispersive or nondispersive), their interaction with boundaries, coupling of wave modes in 2D waveguides, the situation under which the cut-off frequency exists, etc. In this chapter, we will again use spectral analysis to study wave propagation in elementary and higher-order 1D composite waveguides, composite tubes, and 2D composite layered waveguides.
