ABSTRACT

Audits should be scheduled on the basis of the status (e.g., past performance, customer complaints, etc.) and importance of the activity being audited. While this gives each company wide latitudes as to how and when it wants to schedule the audits, it does require consideration of the status and importance of each activity. Therefore, not all elements of the system need to be audited with the same frequency. Furthermore, the audits do not need to be evenly spaced throughout the year. The audit schedule has to reflect the strengths and weaknesses of the quality system, the volume of work performed in the various departments, company schedules, and the unique characteristics of a particular company.
