ABSTRACT

The electrical properties of metals and insulators are well known to all of us. Metals tend to conduct electric current very well. This is why ordinary connector wire typically consists of a bundle of copper wires. Insulators, on the other hand, do not seem to conduct electric current at all , and they are therefore used in situations that take advantage of this property. We see the use of insulators in car sparking plugs where we want to keep the very high spark voltages away from the rest of the engine block, and we see them supporting high-tension electricity cables . . Insulators tend to be very good at blocking electric current.
