ABSTRACT
Activity sampling is a method of data collection which provides information about the proportion of time that is spent on different activities . By sampling an operator' s behaviour at intervals , a picture of the type and frequency of activities making up a task can be developed. The method was originally developed for use by work study practitioners, to help them determine exactly how time was utilized during industrial tasks (see Christensen, 1 950).
