ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION Big Data has several distinct incarnations in clouds. It can be chunks of data stored in HDFS/Hadoop clusters for analysis. Or it can be virtual machine images migrating within or across data centers (DCs). Or it can be backup of data sent from one place to another over the network. Regardless of contents, recently it has become clear that intra-DC and inter-DC networking are subjected to tough throughput (or performance in general) requirements at level with that inside physical boxes. For example, there is already research that views over-the-network storage as an extension of local hard disk drive (HDD)/solid state drive (SSD) environment, which is put into action when local storage or processing capacity are exceeded [1]. is means that there is already some demand for high-volume communications within services running both inside DCs as well as across multiple DCs.
