ABSTRACT
There is a large volume of literature on critical infrastructure of telecommunication system; however, the topic on mobile e-commerce, especially on MANET, still offers researchers many great opportunities for new ideas and designs for the transmission of data. This chapter will present systematic review of the literature on MANET with the objective of addressing security and reliability by studying the state of the art in MANET research and applications. The authors try to identify the gap between academia and industry and to point out the challenge and future research directions. Eighty articles are collected, and the outputs of literature review are categorized into four distinct categories: infrastructure, security, reliability, and academic research and industry solutions. We hope that the findings of this study will serve as a good source for those interested in MANET. The chapter also presents some real-world challenges as well as future research directions.
