ABSTRACT
PARTURITIO N At the end of pregnancy (266 ±10 days after concep tion) the gravid uterus expels its contents. The inception of parturition and the control of the neuromuscular events resulting in birth are poorly understood. Parturi tion begins on time in pregnant women with paraplegia. Pituitary oxytocin is a factor, but cannot initiate parturi tion. Giving birth is divided into three stages.
