ABSTRACT
The lesser sac of peritoneum, the spleen and its ligaments, and the greater omentum develop in the dorsal mesogastrium.
THE LESSER SAC OF PERITONEUM This extensive peritoneal cavity lies behind the stomach and lesser omentum. A dorsal recess in the dorsal meso gastrium expands to the left, forming the gastric part of the lesser sac. The vestibular part lying behind the lesser omentum is derived from the gastro-hepatic recess in the ventral mesogastrium. A ridge behind the stomach, raised up by the hepatic and L gastric arteries, separates the two parts of the sac.
