ABSTRACT
ORIGINS The gland derives bilaterally from the coelomic mesothelium between the urogenital ridge and the median attachment of the dorsal mesogastrium, extend ing from T6 to T 12. In the 6th week, the coelomic cells sink into the underlying mesoderm, where they meet neural crest cells migrating from the sympathetic chain, and surround them (Figure 1). By 8 weeks, the coelomic cells form the adrenal cortex enclosing the adrenal medulla (Figures 1 and 2).
