In the 2nd trimester, more buds are recruited from the lower half of the colliculus (Figures 2a and 3b). They ramify horizontally and upwards and their end buds become associated (5th month) with smooth muscle (Figure 3c). A thin fibrous septum conjoins the postero­ lateral lobes, below the genital cord (Figure 2b) and pos­ terior to the urethral crest (Figure 2c).
