ABSTRACT

Chau et al [2,3] preconcentrated low levels of organolead compounds (Me 2Pb 2 + , Me 3 Pb + , Et 2 Pb 2 + , Et 3Pb +) in lake water by extraction with a benzene solution of diethyldithiocarbamate, followed by butylation with Grignard reagent to produce the tetrabutyl-lead derivative. Gas chromatography of the extract using an atomic absorption detector enabled down to O.Olpg L 1 of these substances to be determined in lake water samples.
