ABSTRACT

General Conference of the IAEA that this natural reactor had worked for > 100 thousand years and generated about 10 GW • year of energy. The burn-out of uranium and the accumulation of plutonium were assessed. In one of the mines of the Oklo Deposit about 500 tons of uranium were found, which in 1972 contained on an average 0.62% rather than 0.72% 2 3 5 U . A sample of uranium was found, in which the concentration of 2 3 5 U was 0.296%. The produced 2 3 9 Pu , whose half-life is 24.4 thousand years, had decayed during that period of time, and was not detected in the samples.
