The increasing output of uranium production and the increasing capacity of the reactors, accompanied by the increase of neutron flux density and the growing accumulation of plutonium in the uranium slugs, augmented the amount of research into the production of various uranium alloys. This called for a more comprehensive examination of structural alterations taking place in the crystalline lattice of uranium [ 145] and for greater amounts of X-Ray diffraction analyses.
