ABSTRACT
It might seem surprising to start the introduction of a book on hydraulic binders by a chapter exclusively devoted to concrete, in which only a few sentences deal with Portland cement and hydraulic binders. This has been done deliberately to point out that Portland cement and hydraulic binders are made almost exclusively to make concrete.
