ABSTRACT
A multiphase material is usually defi ned as a heterogeneous medium composed of two or more materials or phases, which occupy separate regions in space. If the term ‘multiphase materials’ is understood to include the larger group containing natural and man-made materials, the term ‘composites’ is more often reserved for man-made ones.
