ABSTRACT
Practices and problems related with masonry building enclosures are presented. After a short review of recent Portuguese evolution concerning housing buildings, a description of the most frequent structures, masonry materials and enclosures is presented and illustrated. The main problems and pathology related with these practices and the evolution trends are summarized.
