ABSTRACT
Structuralconnectionsareusedtoconnectastructuralmembertoanothermemberorto thesupportsothattheforcescarriedbythestructuralmembercanbetransferredtothe othermemberortothesupport.Asteelconnectionconsistsofconnectioncomponentsand connectors.Cleats,gussetplates,bracketsandconnectingplatesusedinsteelconnections arecalledconnectioncomponents,whilebolts,weldsandpinsareconnectors.Membersare joinedtogetherinaconnectionthatconsistsofseveralelements,whichresultsincomplex stressdistributionswithintheconnection.Connectionsinasteelstructuremaybecome potentialweakspotsthatneedcarefulconsiderationsinthedesign.Structuralconnections areimportantpartsofasteelstructurethatin¥uencetheoverallperformanceofasteel structure.
