ABSTRACT

Monitoring the quality of drinking water from the treatment plant to the consumers tap is critical to ensure compliance with national standards and WHO guideline levels (DWI 2007; WHO 2006). At present the extent of the water quality monitoring within sup ply systems is limited and time consuming as it is primarily carried out by manual grab sampling. The quality of water supplied to customers depends on the treatment processes and any deterioration during transport in distribution pipelines.
