ABSTRACT
Having thoroughly explored the underlying theoretical basis of ultrasonic propagation in previous chapters, it is now necessary to consider how ultrasound could be used in practice. Clearly this requires devices capable of transmitting and receiving ultrasound, and thus it is necessary to consider transduction mechanisms.
