ABSTRACT
The hard computing methods, since they are
based on mathematics can handle forward prob-
lems. However, decisionmaking often times requires
the solution of an inverse problem.
The field of construction engineering and man-
agement deals with designing and constructing
structures. Thus a great deal of decision making is
required at every stage of a project, starting from
the concept stage till after the final delivery of the
project upon completion of the guarantee period.
In that respect, neural networks and fuzzy logic
inherently have the characteristics to form a suit-
able decision support system.
